Pujara, who amassed500+ runs, the last time they toured Australia will have to be in his best form as India will look to cover Kohli’s absence.

Kohli’s Test deputy in Ajinkya Rahane is expected to captain India whereas Rohit Sharma will join the squad after the first two Tests only if deemed fit to travel Down Under. The four-match series gets underway from December 17 with the day-night Test.

Currently, India is involved in the second and penultimate ODI versus Australia in Sydney after losing the series opener at the same venue.
