Ishan Kishan stole the limelight with his stunning maiden ton which he smashed against Bangladesh during the third ODI. With this, he registered the fastest ever in men’s ODIs as well. It is also noteworthy that, Ishan missed his maiden international hundred by seven runs in Ranchi as well.

However, Kishan scored his double hundred against Bangladesh in Chattogram which came off only 126 balls. That is 12 balls quicker than Chris Gayle who had earlier held the record as well. And Kishan had 15 more overs in his hand when he reached the feat and could have scored more as well.

“I’m blessed to hear my name alongside such legends. Still feel when I got out, 15 overs were left. Could’ve scored 300 also!” Kishan told the host broadcaster during the innings break in Chattogram, where India racked up a score of 409/8 after being asked to bat first. The wicket was too good to bat on. My intent was very clear: if the ball is there, I’ll go for it.”

However, Ishan Kishan and Virat Kohli added a 290-run stand for the second wicket, with the latter also scoring his 72nd international ton as well. Kishan also said that batting with Kohli helped him do well and not throw the wicket away like he had done in Ranchi against South Africa.

“Batting with Virat bhai… he has such a good sense of the game. He was spot on with which bowlers I needed to select (pick and target). He was calming me down when I was in my 90s. I wanted to bring it up with a six, but he said to get it in singles as it’s my first,” he further added.

Meanwhile, with this hundred, Ishan Kishan has announced his arrival for the opening spot, a position which is important when India will play the World Cup at home later next year.

“Batting position, I think, other players also come through having batted at different positions. So being a young player, I can’t complain and demand that you must bat me at this particular position,” Ishan Kishan said in the post-mach press conference. “At this level, it’s about making use of the opportunities that are provided to you. That’s how big players are made. Rahul Dravid was very happy. He also knows that he isn’t able to give a chance to everyone who wants to play, who wants to do well. Because we already have such a good side.”
