After Nutan Goel’s heroics with the ball in the earlier match, it was now time for the VK Krishna Menon Academy to take on NIWEC at the Thakur cricket stadium in Kandivali in the Cricfit Premier League (CPL) where NIWEC in a low scoring thriller avenged the VK Krishna Menon Academy as they beat them by 1 wicket as the match went down to the wire.
It all started when NIWEC won the toss and elected to bowl first. As the innings began, VK Krishna Menon Academy lost their first wicket in the 2nd over of the innings as Hitesh Shekhawat was run out in the most unfortunate fashion, Hitesh’s wicket then brought Shashwat Rawal to the crease who was dismissed in the third over of the innings.
Sumit Singh and Malhar Mane Notched Up A 44 Run Stand In CPL
It looked as if VK Krishna Menon Academy were in deep trouble and needed a partnership to pull them out of an incoming disaster as Sumit Singh and Malhar Mane looked to build a partnership as they put up a 44 run stand on the board until both set batsman ended up getting run out.
After the departure of both Sumit Singh and Malhar Mane, no other batsman could get the scoreboard ticking as VK Krishna Menon Academy were able to put up just 106 in 20 overs. In the aftermath, Sahil Parekh and Debashish Morker’s stable knock helped NIWEC sustain in the game as the VK Krishna Menon Academy bowlers ran a riot with Sahil Malbari picking 3 wickets in his 4 over spell while Sayantak Das picked up 2 wickets.
In the end, it was Arjun Ichit who hit the winning runs giving NIWEC a nail-biting 1 wicket victory over VK Krishna Menon Academy.
