The eleventh edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) is set to kick off on August 16 in St. Lucia, with the final scheduled on September 24 in Guyana. The defending champions, Jamaica Tallawahs will take on Saint Lucia Kings in the opening match of the tournament on Wednesday at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in Gros Islet, St Lucia.
Jamaica Tallawahs defeated the Barbados Royals in the final of CPL 2022 by eight wickets to clinch the title. This was their third CPL championship win. The Player of the Tournament from the 2022 edition, Brandon King will be leading them this season. He will be keen to continue his terrific run and defend the title for the Jamaica Tallawahs.
On the other hand, the Saint Lucia Kings had a decent season last year. They finished third on the points table and qualified for the knock-outs. However, they couldn’t stretch their journey far as they lost to the Jamaica Tallawahs in the Eliminator by 33 runs.
