CPL 2021: Nutan Goel Shines As RNCA Don Bosco Trumps Happy Boys To Reach Finals

CPL

The inaugural edition of Cricfit Premier League (CPL) has reached its business end with teams fighting for a place in the finals. RNCA Don Bosco banked on Nutan Goel’s brilliant showdown with the bat to trump Happy Boys to book a berth in the finals of U16 at the Thakur Village Cricket Stadium in Kandivali East.

Batting first, Don Bosco made a steady start with openers Shravan Mhatre and Aditya Parulekar unleashing a cautious approach against the new ball. They raced to 25 runs in 4 overs before Parth Shah drew the first blood removing Shravan.

The dismissal of Shravan brought the man of the match Nutan Goel in the middle, who rose up to the occasion when it mattered the most. He scored a valiant half-century from just 42 deliveries which included four boundaries and one six to help RNCA Don Bosco post a decent total. Nutan shared a 62-run stand for the second wicket before Aayush Sawant’s quickfire 29 off 22 balls guided RNCA Don Bosco to 148 runs in their quota of 20 overs.

Chasing a challenging total, Happy Boys didn’t had a great start. They lost opener Shreyansh Hirlekar in the second over with Aryan Redij drawing the first blood. He posed all sorts of trouble for the batters with the new ball. Parth Shah and Pranav Sawant got starts but failed to convert those as Kshitij Singh was left stranded on the other end as wickets tumbled on from the other.

RNCA Don Bosco bowlers bowled tight line and length making it difficult for Happy Boys batters to cut loose. Kshitij played a whirlwind knock of 49 runs but once Prahlad Iyer caught him short of his crease while taking a run it was all over for Happy Boys. They managed to score only 110 runs from their 20 overs falling short by 38 runs as Don Bosco secured a place in the finals.
