Cricket Australia has named a new look squad for the limited over series against England in June. Tim Paine is all set to take up the captaincy in the ODI format while Aaron Finch has been named as the skipper for T20I”s.
Australia will play England in 5 ODI”s and a single T20I starting from June 13. This will be the first assignment for Justin Langer as a full-time coach with the renovated team that doesn”t include the likes of David Warner and Steve Smith.
Nathan Lyon and Shaun Marsh have been named in the ODI squad and this comes as a surprise as they hadn”t been a part of the limited overs for a long time. Glenn Maxwell earned a call after his exclusion in the England series. Mitchell Marsh, who succumbed to an injury has been rested and is expected to be fit for the Pakistan series.
To everyone”s surprise, Chris Lynn has been excluded and the reason behind the same isn”t listed. Alex Carey and Jhye Richardson also found ways to earn the call-ups.
This series marks the preparations for the 2019 world cup for this squad and it will be really interesting to see how Justin Langer can motivate with his moves. Langer had a successful tenure as a coach of Western Australia and he will be looking forward to replicating the same in the International arena.
