Cricket Australia extends coach Darren Lehmann”s contract till 2019

The Australian Cricket Team’s head coach Darren Lehmann has extended his contract until 2019. He was appointed back in 2013 when Micky Arthur was sacked by the Australian Board as there was an obvious unrest with his mentorship. Lehmann’s been a Talisman for Australia ever since, They’ve won the 2013-14 Ashes with a whopping  5-nil margin and he also coached the 2015 World Cup winning side. Australia are on top of the Ranking table in both ODI’s & as well as in Tests. Darren’s faith and the player’s hard work is the main factor behind this feat.

Darren was also the Head Coach of the 2009 IPL Champions, i.e. the now Defunct Deccan chargers. He turned the tables for them as they had a dismal performance in the inaugural edition. He worked with players with hard hitting abilities such as Gibbs & Gilchrist back then. Darren’s methodologies have worked wonders for explosive batsmen as we’ve seen players such as Gilchrist, Gibbs, Rohit play with their natural flamboyance and sometimes failing while doing so, That’s where his expertise comes into play where he guides them to perfectly channelize their strengths accordingly. We’ve seen a similar transition with David Warner which has been a tremendous transformation for him and for the National Side.

Darren had also Coached Queensland when the world saw a sudden exit by Trevor Barsby, it might’ve been a blessing in  disguise for them as Queensland went onto win the 2011/2012 Sheffield Shield. He also coached The BBL franchise Brisbane Heat which makes his coaching resume pretty impressive.

Looking at this Trait of Darren, Cricket Australia’s Executive General Manager, Mr.Pat Howard had expressed that his extension will ensure stability ahead of an important period for the National Side as 2019 is a big year for the Australian team.

After the Renewal of the contract, Darren ecstatically said that it was the best job in the world and also that he loves the job.

Justin Langer would’ve be the next best choice for the post of Head Coach after 2019 as he had earlier coached the Australian side for a brief period during the Tri-series back in June when Lehmann was rested.

Currently, The Australian team is touring Sri Lanka where they’re trailing the home side in the on-going Test series.Lehamann has to make sure that his lads are refreshed and ready to roar if they want to hold onto that Number 1 Ranking in whites.

Team Australia have a jam packed schedule full of fixtures as they’ll be touring South Africa which is going to be a tough task, and then they play a Home series against Pakistan during the fag end of the year . The World Cup winning side will face the runners up, New Zealand in their opening fixture of Champions trophy in 2017 which will be an important series for them. Darren Lehmann has lots of time to tinker and test the depth of his squad so that the Equilibrium is maintained in harmony which can result in another piece of silverware for the Country which is rightly obsessed with cricket and winning major Trophies.
