Cricket Fraternity Pours Wishes As Ravi Shastri Celebrates His 58th Birthday

Team India skipper Virat Kohli led the flow of wishes by the cricketers as head coach Ravi Shastri celebrates his 58th birthday today. A dynamic personality both on and off the field, Shastri has had an eventful career.

He has played 80 Test matches and 150 ODIs for India. Shastri played a key role in helping India lift the ICC World Cup in 1983 under the leadership of Kapil Dev. He was also named the player of the tournament, or as it was known, the Champion of Champions in Benson & Hedges World Championship of Cricket.

Ravi Shastri celebrates his 58th birthday

Apart from making his presence on the cricketing field, he has been a popular cricket commentator. His famous lines from the commentary box during India’s World Cup victory in 2011 still echoes in every cricket fans ears.

Ravi Shastri has also served as Indian team’s director in 2014 before taking up the role of the head coach. He enjoyed decent success with the side led by Virat Kohli and, as a result, BCCI offered him a second term last year after the ICC World Cup 2019. During his tenure, India reached the pinnacle of rankings in ICC’s Test chart. They are also at the top in the points table of the ICC World Test Championship.

With a lot of success under his belt, Ravi Shastri celebrates his birthday today. While he is currently locked in his house due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, Shastri is having a different birthday. Meanwhile, since the clock ticked 12, many cricketers took to Twitter to wish their head sir.
