Cricketer Rinku Singh Set To Exchange Rings With MP Priya Saroj On June 8

Indian cricketer Rinku Singh is set to get engaged to Samajwadi Party (SP) Member of Parliament Priya Saroj on Sunday, June 8. The engagement ceremony is scheduled to take place at a hotel in Lucknow. This marks a new chapter in Rinku’s life after KKR missed the 2025 IPL playoffs.

During the season, Rinku played 13 matches and scored 206 runs, maintaining an average of 29.42 and a strike rate of 153.73. His highest score of the season also stood at 153.73. KKR concluded the tournament in eighth place with 12 points and a net run rate of -0.305, winning five out of their 14 games.

In January, SP MLA Tufani Saroj shared that both families had agreed on Priya and Rinku’s marriage after discussions in Aligarh. He added they met through a mutual friend linked to cricket.

“Rinku and Priya have known each other for more than a year now. They both liked each other but needed their families’ consent for the relationship. Both families have agreed to this marriage,” he said.

Who is Priya Saroj?

Priya Saroj, originally from Karkhiyaon village in Varanasi, has been an active member of the Samajwadi Party (SP) for several years. In 2024, she was elected to the Lok Sabha from the Machhlishahr constituency in Jaunpur district.

Before entering politics, Priya worked as a lawyer in the Supreme Court. She first gained public attention while campaigning for her father during the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. Academically, she holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Delhi University and a law degree from Amity University in Noida.

Rinku Singh rose to fame during the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) when he smashed five consecutive sixes against Yash Dayal in a dramatic match against the Gujarat Titans. Since then, he has played in two One Day Internationals (ODIs) and 33 T20 Internationals for India, scoring a total of 601 runs, which includes three fifties and a highest score of 69.
