CSA Announces Updated Fixture For India Series, Wanderers To Host New Year’s Test

Cricket South Africa (CSA) has confirmed on Monday (December 6) that the Wanderers will host the New Year’s Test against India, starting on January 3 as they have announced the revised schedule.

However, Cape Town has usually hosted the new year’s Test in the South African summer but as per Cricbuzz earlier, the Test was allocated to Johannesburg due to the logistical issues in the country aid the crunch time of COVID-19.

The tour will begin with the Boxing Day Test that is set to play at SuperSport Park in Centurion whereas Cape Town to host the third and final Test starting on January 11 as well. Notably, the series will be a part of the World Test Championship

However, after the end of the Test series, both teams will take on each other in two ODIs on January 19 and 21 in Paarl and 23 in Cape Town respectively as well.

And, as they have decided earlier, the four-match T20I series will take place later since the tour got delayed due to the sudden outbreak of the new Covid-19 variant, Omicron in the country.

“BCCI  has confirmed CSA that the Indian team will travel for three Tests and three ODIs. The remaining four T20Is will be played at a later date,” Shah told news agency ANI.
