CSK Pacer Concussed After Hitting Ad-Board In BBL 2024-25

Hobart Hurricanes pacer Nathan Ellis endured a heavy collision with the advertising board while fielding during the 2024-25 Big Bash League (BBL) match against the Hobart Hurricanes at Ninja Stadium on Friday, January 10.

The right-arm seamer temporarily left the field but returned later to complete his overs in the first innings. The incident occurred in the 15th over when Ellis chased an overthrow and dived full-length to stop the ball from crossing the boundary.

However, his momentum carried him past the ropes, leading to a head-on collision with the advertising boards. Ellis remained motionless for a brief moment, prompting immediate attention from the medical team and teammates. He did not lose consciousness, engaged with the medical staff, and eventually walked off the field with them.

The pacer assured his teammates and broadcasters that he was fine, with only minor effects from the collision. You can watch the images here:

The Hobart Hurricanes did not require a concussion substitute as Ellis returned to the field to bowl the 18th over of the innings. In a recent incident, Sydney Thunder teammates Daniel Sams and Cameron Bancroft collided while attempting a catch against the Perth Scorchers.

Both were stretchered off, with Bancroft sustaining a broken shoulder and nose, ruling him out for the rest of the tournament, while Sams remains sidelined with a severe concussion.

Nathan Ellis recorded bowling figures of 0-42 in the BBL match against Sydney Thunder

The right-arm death-over specialist overcame his recent setback to deliver in the final stages of the innings. He bowled the 18th and the last over, conceding 29 runs overall to finish with figures of 0-42 from his four overs.

A dramatic power surge and the closing overs powered Sydney Thunder to 164-6. David Warner notched his third half-century in four matches, further solidifying his position as the tournament’s leading run-scorer.
