CT17 : India in red hot form as they make little work of Bangladesh in warm up game:- India produced a dominating again in the second warm-up match against Bangladesh as they outplayed them to win the match by 240 runs at Kennington Oval, London. The Indian batters got enough match practice as Dinesh Karthik, Hardik Pandya, Shikhar Dhawan scored runs while the fast bowlers continued their excellent form by dismissing Bangladesh for just 84 runs.

Bangladesh captain Shakib- AL- Hasan won the toss and elected to field in overcast conditions at Kennington Oval, London. Rohit Sharma, who was making a comeback after a gap of 5 months, was dismissed cheaply for 1. Ajiyanka Rahane again failed to cash on the chance before being dismissed for 11 in 21 balls. At the end of first 10 overs, India was 48 for 2.

After the first 10 overs, Shikhar Dhawan and Dinesh Karthik joined in the 7th over with score at 21 for 2. Both of them played the Bangladesh bowlers with aggressive intent. Dinesh Karthik who was dismissed for 0 in the previous match against New Zealand was sent in by Virat Kohli at number 4. Shikhar Dhawan continued from where he left in the previous match against New Zealand. Dhawan completed his consecutive second fifty in 63 balls. Both of them put on 100 runs for the 3rd wicket in16.3 overs before the left handed Dhawan was dismissed for well- made.

Kedhar Jadhav came in next after the fall of Dhawan’s wicket. He too scored 31 runs in 38 balls putting on 75 runs for the fourth wicket with Dinesh Karthik. Dinesh Karthik retired hurt at the score of 94. Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja put on 86 runs for the 6th wicket. Hardik Pandya proved his worth by scoring his fifty in 39 balls. After completing his half century he took on Bangladesh bowlers and remained not out on 80 in 54 balls with 6 fours and 4 sixes. India posted 324 for 7 in 50 overs.

Chasing the target of 325, the Indian fast bowlers showed their class with top quality bowling. Soumya Sarkar was the first batsmen to be dismissed off Umesh Yadav’s bowling on the 2nd ball of 4th over. Three balls later, Umesh Yadav dismissed Sabbir Rahman.

In the next over, Bhuvneshwar Kumar surprised Imrul Kayes with a bouncer to dismiss him for 7 runs. Bangladesh was struggling at 11 for 3. In the 7th over, Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissed Shakib- AL- Hasan and Mahmudllah to leave Bangladesh in tatters at 21 for 5.

At the end of first 10 overs, Bangladesh was in big trouble with 30 runs on the board and 6 wickets in the pavilion. After the powerplay overs, Suzumnal and Mehedi Hasan tried to delay the inevitable. Bangladesh was bowled out for 84 in 23.5 overs. Umesh Yadav and Bhuvneshwar Kumar picked 3 wickets each while Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya and Ravichandran Ashwin took 1 wicket each.

India will play their first match of the tournament against Pakistan on 4th June at Edgbaston.

India 325 for 7 in 50 overs ( Dinesh Karthik 94* retired hurt, Hardik Pandya 80*, Rubel Hossain 3/50) beat Bangladesh 84 in 23.5 overs ( Mehedi Hasan 24, Bhuvneshwar Kumar 3/13, Umesh Yadav 3/16) by 240 runs.
