Ravi Shastri IPL 2021

The newest entrant in the IPL sphere CVC owned Ahmedabad franchise is likely to rope in Ravi Shastri as the head coach for IPL 2022. Bowling coach Bharat Arun and fielding coach R Sridhar are also likely to join the franchise alongside Shastri.

Incidentally, Ravi Shastri’s tenure as India head coach will come to an end after the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. Sridhar and Arun have also decided to part ways with the Indian team.

As per reports in Cricbuzz, the new IPL team owners are understood to have made an approach to the outgoing Indian team coaches recently. Ravi Shastri, who is currently busy with the ICC T20 World Cup 2021, has sought some time from making a decision.

CVC keen to build the culture from the beginning of IPL 2022

The report further adds that Shastri has shown keen interest in taking up a coaching role even if it were to be at the cost of a potential return to commentary. Meanwhile, CVC Capitals, the promoters of the Ahmedabad franchise, are understood to be eager to close the matter early as they want to build a team culture from the very beginning.

With a decision on retention waiting to be taken, the members of the global private equity firm, who have experience in running sports leagues and franchises in other parts of the world, want the professionals involved in the decision making. Simultaneously, they are also looking to recruit a CEO and an administrative manager for the franchise at the earliest.

Ravi Shastri has taken Indian cricket to new heights while being at the helm of the side. Under his tenure, Virat Kohli & Co have defeated India twice in Australia and also reached the finals of the ICC World Test Championship. They also dominated the limited-overs cricket.
