CWC 2023: Ahmedabad To Host India Vs Pakistan Match In The Marquee Event

After the ongoing Indian Premier League concludes, the BCCI will reportedly reveal the World Cup schedule at a formal launch. And, the 50-over World Cup match between India and Pakistan will be one of the most entertaining ones as well.

In order to accommodate the large number of fans who are willing to fly into India from abroad for the match, the BCCI has chosen to hold the all-important match at the Ahmedabad stadium.

With a 1 lakh-people capacity, the Narendra Modi Stadium is the biggest in the country

The 50-over World Cup will start on October 5 with Nagpur, Bengaluru, Trivandrum, Mumbai, Delhi, Lucknow, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Rajkot, Indore, and Bengaluru if everything goes as planned. And Dharamshala was shortlisted as a venue, even for practice matches.

As a result of security concerns, Pakistan may end up playing the majority of its games in Chennai and Bengaluru. The Eden Gardens in Kolkata are also being considered as a location. The majority of Bangladesh’s games could also be held in Kolkata and Guwahati, which would cut down on travel time for supporters from the neighbouring nation.

Because October and November are monsoon months. The BCCI plans to end the matches in the southern parts of the nation before the first week of November. According to sources, the Indian team asked the BCCI to assign matches against Australia, England, New Zealand and South Africa to stadiums that support spinners.

“In recent years, on slow tracks, the Indian team has performed admirably at home. Therefore, the team’s management requested that whenever a schedule was made. The Indian team play top teams on slow pitches. They desired a home-field advantage”, according to a BCCI source.

However, BCCI noted that there is a good chance that India’s match against Australia will take place at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium. While matches against New Zealand, England and South Africa will take place in other venues with slow pitches.

To upgrade stadiums nationwide in time for the 50-over World Cup. The BCCI has set aside more than Rs 500 crore. Jay Shah, the secretary of the BCCI, had previously stated that the organization would upgrade its infrastructure for the mega event.
