The Indian side is currently playing West Indies at Manchester. It is to be noted that India is yet to be defeated in the tournament. They are the only side who has had sheer dominance over their opposition in the past few games. The top order in terms of Rohit, Rahul and Kohli have rescued the side from trouble. Their bowlers are also in stupendous form.
One thing that the teams can not control is umpiring. Poor umpiring has haunted players like Liton Das, Chris Gayle and few other players fell a prey to the wrong decisions. This leaves both fans and cricketers quite frustrated with the same.
Today we saw another victim of controversial umpiring. This time the target was Rohit Sharma. Kemar Roach fired up a delivery at Rohit Sharma and Sharma nicked (well, that”s what the snicko said) which was safely taken by Shai Hope.
However, the on-field umpire wasn”t convinced and turned down the decision. The opposition decided to review umpire”s decision and reaped benefits. Rohit Sharma was gone. A spike was noted on the snicko but the third umpire reached a conclusion that it was from the bat not off the pad.
However, further replays showed that the spike was that off the pad and fans aren”t pleased with the call. Cricket experts, analysts and former players started tweeting their opinions regarding the same which a few raised eyebrows on such occurrences in major tournaments.
This decision left Rohit Sharma fuming from the crease and we do not know whether he was truly nicked or not. What do you think about the dismissal? Out or not out?
Twitter couldn”t start expressing its dissent and this is how it reacted :
On field umpires make mistakes, understandable. But how can 3rd Umpires make such mistakes. Why doesn't ICC fine umpires for poor decisions? 🤬😒😏 #RohitSharma #INDvWI #INDvsWI pic.twitter.com/zZWHv7ZnJj

Did that hit the bat or pad and was it conclusive? @ImRo45 doesn’t think so but the umpire says out and that’s what matters for the West Indies.

For once I'm not convinced by that third umpire decision. Rohit Sharma wasn't either.

Rohit Sharma, in the dressing room, is having a close look at his dismissal.
Was there an inside edge? He doesn't think so!#OneFamily #CricketMeriJaan #CWC19 #TeamIndia #WIvIND

Just cos there was a spike in ultra edge the umpire decided to give it an out. Third grade umpiring in the world cup continues. #INDvsWI #RohitSharma #CWC19

Rohit Sharma was clearly not out. Third Umpire took a hasty decision to declare the batsman out without conclusively establishing the review. On field umpires decision can be overturned only when conclusively proven otherwise. Bloody cheaters #INDvsWI
