Dale Steyn Praises Jasprit Bumrah’s Brilliant Performance Against Pakistan

Former South African fast bowler Dale Steyn praised Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah, highlighting his impressive performance that led to India’s victory over Pakistan. Bumrah’s key contributions came during a match held at Nassau County Stadium in New York, marking the first time this iconic fixture took place in the United States.

During the match, Bumrah delivered a game-changing over, taking the crucial wicket of Mohammad Rizwan on his first ball, which sparked a collapse in the Pakistani batting lineup. Bumrah’s exceptional bowling figures of 3/14 from 4 overs earned him the man of the match award for the second consecutive time in the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Dale Steyn analyzed Bumrah’s bowling on Star Sports, emphasizing that Bumrah’s strength lies in his variable length, which he adjusts according to the game’s demands. Steyn noted that Bumrah’s line has never been an issue and that he can bowl precisely where he intends to.

“I think his great skill is his ability to alter his length. He’s never really had an issue with his line. If he wants to follow a wide yorker, it’s no problem. A straight yorker. It’s no problem.” – Steyn said via Star Sports.

Dale Steyn highlighted Jasprit Bumrah’s unique ability to adjust his bowling length based on the pitch conditions. Steyn explained that in India, Bumrah tends to bowl fuller deliveries, occasionally mixing in short balls.

On the drop-in pitch in New York, Steyn noted that Bumrah accurately adjusted his length with minimal errors. Steyn was particularly impressed that Bumrah avoided bowling half-volleys, making it challenging for batters to play their shots against him.

“But his length. We spoke about the length earlier. When you’re in India, you might want to change your length. You might want to go a little bit fuller, you know, maybe a bit shorter wherever it is.”

“But he’s adjusted to the length here so well. And that means that as a batter, you’re getting absolutely nothing. He’s not bowling any half volleys that you can score runs.” – Dale Steyn concluded.
