Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper David Warner rued drop catches as the reason behind them going down against Delhi Capitals. They failed to chase down 190 runs set by Delhi in Abu Dhabi, finishing 17 runs short to bow out of IPL 2020.
Chasing a mammoth total, Sunrisers Hyderabad got off to the worst start possible losing their skipper David Warner. Priyam Garg and Manish Pandey tried to steer the run chase but Marcus Stoinis continued his brilliant show – this time with the ball to keep Sunrisers Hyderabad batters at bay.
Kane Williamson played another gem of a knock alongside young Abdul Samad but Stoinis once again provided the much-needed breakthrough before Kagiso Rabada picked three wickets in an over to put Sunrisers Hyderabad out of IPL 2020.

Marcus Stoinis and Shikhar Dhawan provided a blistering start to Delhi Capitals after opting to bat first. Although David Warner & Co bounced back but Dhawan continued his superb form in IPL 2020 to carry on the innings. Dhawan contributed with 78 runs but it was the late cameo from Shimron Hetmyer that powered Delhi Capitals to 189.
Attitude is the key – David Warner
The West Indian played his best knock of IPL 2020 when his team needed the most chipping in with 22-ball 44 which, in the end, made the difference for Sunrisers Hyderabad. Speaking at the end of the game, David Warner rued drop catches behind their defeat.
“The main thing is attitude in the field. You can’t win if you don’t take catches, so that, we’ll have to do much better next time – that’s what’s let us down in this tournament – the attitude on the field,” David Warner said.
Adding further, SRH skipper thanked all the supporters in India and the franchise owners for creating such a brilliant environment. He also pointed out the positives which will be an advantage for them in the next IPL which is in a couple of month’s time.
“Natarajan is a find of this IPL, and he’s been outstanding. Rashid has been amazing, and so has Manish Pandey at No. 3. From an all-round perspective, it’s been great. I’d like to thank all our supporters at home. Hyderabad is our second home, and the franchise owners are like a family. Hopefully after this we can go and play the IPL in India next year and put up a better show,” Warner signed off.
