Just a day prior to the start of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy which also marks the return of domestic cricket in India. Controversy has struck the Baroda stateside, Deepak Hooda has withdrawn his name from the T20 tournament after a heated argument with the skipper of the side Krunal Pandya.
Close to 38 teams are all set to take in the T20 tournament wherein Baroda is placed in the Elite Group C who will be facing Uttarakhand in their first game of the season on Sunday but now with the controversy hitting the Baroda side, they will end up playing the match without one of their key players.
Baroda earlier announced the squad which had few names missing from which the most notable one was of Yusuf Pathan who wasn’t considered for the SMAT T20 Tournament. Which meant Krunal Pandya was to be the side’s skipper but now with the altercation, he’s had with Deepak Hooda it has put Baroda in all sorts of trouble ahead of the start of the tournament.

Deepak Hooda Accuses Krunal Pandya Of Threatening Him
Deepak Hooda who has withdrawn his name from the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, had a heated argument with Krunal Pandya wherein Hooda accused Pandya of threatening him. It is being reported that the Baroda state association had announced a cut down 17 man squad for the match against Uttarakhand in which Deepak Hooda’s name wasn’t announced when initially in the 22 man squad, Deepak Hooda was announced as the vice-captain of the side.
The argument took place when both Krunal Pandya and Deepak Hooda were practising at the Reliance Stadium in Vadodara, just a day prior to the start of the tournament. Now, Deepak Hooda has written an email to the BCA stating Krunal Pandya abused him and announced that he won’t be taking a part in the tournament this season for Baroda. Local news channel TV9 Gujarati has reported the news about the altercation between Deepak Hooda and Krunal Pandya.
Deepak Hooda was last seen playing for the Kings XI Punjab franchise in 2020 IPL where he was a late addition to the playing XI as he scored 101 runs in 7 matches with one fifty to his name. While Krunal Pandya has been a regular for the Mumbai Indians franchise since 2013.
