“Definitely A Bat First Surface” – Wasim Jaffer’s Hilarious Take On Moon’s Surface

Renowned Indian cricketer, Wasim Jaffer, brought a delightful twist to the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3 on August 23 by offering a tongue-in-cheek pitch report for the Moon. This event marked a historic milestone as India became the first country to achieve a soft landing on the Moon’s South Pole, joining an elite group of spacefaring nations.

Jaffer playfully compared the lunar surface to a cricket pitch and humorously speculated on his ideal bowling lineup. In a tweet alongside an image from the Landing Imager Camera, he quipped that the Moon’s terrain seemed like a perfect batting pitch and suggested deploying three spinners, one genuine seamer, and an all-rounder for the match.

Here is what he wrote:

As the Indian cricket team, led by Rohit Sharma, gears up for the highly anticipated Asia Cup 2023, they have commenced their pre-season training camp in Alur, Karnataka. The Asia Cup is set to follow a hybrid model, with Pakistan hosting four matches and Sri Lanka taking charge of the remaining fixtures, including the final.

The tournament is scheduled to kick off with a match between Pakistan and debutant Nepal on August 30 at the Multan Cricket Stadium. India’s first game is against traditional rivals Pakistan on September 3 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.

An interesting aspect of this tournament is the return of star Indian batsmen KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer, who have successfully recovered from their injuries at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. Another focal point is the performance of Jasprit Bumrah, as he makes his comeback to the field following a prolonged absence.

The 16th edition of the Asia Cup takes on added significance as it serves as a dress rehearsal for the highly anticipated ICC Cricket World Cup. India is poised to host this global event from October 5 to November 16, creating a whirlwind of excitement and anticipation for these consecutive cricketing spectacles.
