This match marked the conclusion of the league phase for both franchises, allowing Delhi Capitals to leapfrog their opponents to finish sixth in the standings with 14 points, while Kolkata Knight Riders finished seventh with 13 points.

Kolkata Knight Riders captain Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and elected to bowl first. Delhi Capitals capitalized effectively on the batting conditions, posting a formidable total of 203 for the loss of 5 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Opening batsman KL Rahul anchored the innings with a highly aggressive performance, scoring a quickfire 60 runs off just 30 deliveries, an innings that included five boundaries and four sixes.
