Delhi Capitals (DC) kept their wits about them as they made the necessary poker-faced auction moves at the IPL 2026 auction held in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, thus smartly stacking their team with local and non-local talent. The team assured the coverage of important posts, but at the same time, they did not lose sight of the money importance and were quite prudent in this regard.
Their way of conducting the auction was obviously guiding them in their efforts to strike a balance between the seasoned overseas players and the up-and-coming local stars, thus offering a strong team for the season of 2026.
The player who topped the list of most wanted and was grabbed by the Delhi Capitals team was the Jammu and Kashmir all-rounder Auqib Nabi, who was awarded ₹8.40 crore and was not only the biggest player signing of the day but also the biggest investment of the franchise. With his all-around playing and his vast experience, Nabi will surely be a great addition to the squad. The Capitals did not stop here and continued their aggressive overseas recruitment campaign by looking for both batting and bowling depth through many departments and positions.
The team has two openers now: Ben Duckett from England and Pathum Nissanka from Sri Lanka, who together will provide the very critical thing in a cricket game that is stable top-order batting.
For the purpose of having a stronger bowling department, DC acquired the South African fast bowler Lungi Ngidi and New Zealand’s Kyle Jamieson, who both have international experience and are capable of coming up with match-winning performances. The middle order of the batting side was boosted with the signing of South African batter David Miller, thus allowing the franchise to have powerful batting in the middle overs.
