Delhi gets new coaching staff ahead of the 2019/20 domestic season

The DDCA has now appointed KP Bhaskar and Rajkumar Sharma as a part of the coaching staff for the Delhi senior side. They are expected to take up the roles ahead of their next domestic fixture.

KP Sharma comes with an experience of 95 First-class games scoring over 5400 runs. The 56-year old was with the Uttarakhand team for the Ranji season last year. It will be interesting if his presence as a head coach would create magic for the Delhi side.

On the other hand, Rajkumar Sharma will function as the bowling coach for the side. It is to be noted that he is the childhood coach of Indian skipper Virat Kohli.

Currently, Sharma runs an academy in Delhi to groom youngsters. In 2016, he bagged the Dronacharya award for his service in developing individuals flourish in the gentleman”s game. He represented the Delhi side in the 1986-91 season in 9 games for the side.

I have worked closely with most Delhi boys when I was part of age-group teams and that would stand me in good stead.”

The Delhi side hasn”t been so consistent in recent times. They ended as runners-up during the 2018-19 Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Furthermore, their Ranji journey hasn”t been as smooth as expected. They were the champions in the 2007-08 season and runners-up in the 2017-18 period.

A huge challenge awaits the coaching staff to help the Delhi side make a statement in this domestic season.
