Dewald Brevis, who is also known as baby Ab de Villiers, made headlines on Monday in the match between Titans and Knights in Potchefstroom in the ongoing CSA T20 Challenge. He scored 162 off 57 balls which equalled the record of the third-highest T20 score.

The knock compromised 13 fours and as many sixes. Brevis reached his first 50 in 17 balls and the next one in 18. In 35 balls he scored 100 runs which is the fastest hundred in the South African domestic circuit. It is also the fastest 150 in the shortest format.

Meanwhile, fans went crazy on social media as they heaped praise on young Dewald Brevis. Let’s look at some of the Twitter reactions to his magnificent knock:

He equalled Hazratullah Zazai and Hamilton Masakadza’s third-highest score and fell short by 13 runs to break Chris Gayle’s 175. The team posted 271-3 in their innings.

Dewald Brevis career in brief

Brevis, who made his name in the U19 World Cup this year was bought by Mumbai Indians in the IPL. He scored 161 runs at a strike rate of 142. He is also drafted by MI Cape Town for the SA20 league in South Africa which will be played in January. His exploits in this game have again made him the headlines and told the world to take notice of him.

Prior to this century, he scored 154 runs in 6 innings in the CSA T20 challenge. If he consistently performs in the domestic circuit as well as in the leagues around the world like IPL, the upcoming SA20 league etc the call-up to the national team wouldn’t be far away for him.

He is a talent who everyone has taken a notice of and wants to deliver performances just like his idol, AB de Villiers. He has the potential to do so but the question remains when will he get his opportunity to unleash on the international stage?
