Dinesh Karthik, Murali Vijay and Vijay Shankar were included among 26 names who have been included in Tamil Nadu’s Syed Mushtaq Ali squad. Karthik, who stepped down from KKR’s Captaincy midway through IPL 2020 will be eyeing this tournament to make a case for himself in the Indian Squad for the next World T20. Names like Arun Karthik and Sandeep Warrier, who moved from Kerala ahead of the season, have also been included in the list, according to a Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) release.
Meanwhile, names like R Ashwin, Washington Sundar and T Natarajan have been omitted from the squad as the two will be busy on their national commitments in Australia.

Dinesh Karthik Included in Tamil Nadu’s Mushtaq Ali Suad
Chairman of selectors S Vasudevan said the players were selected on the basis of their last year’s performance. The final squad will be picked on December 21.
“We have chosen the players based on last year’s performance. It is a balanced one with a mix of experience and youth,” Vasudevan told PTI.
Meanwhile, a TNCA Official said that they are waiting to know the actual strength of the side from the BCCI.The Mushtaq Ali trophy was earlier postponed by the BCCI after the outbreak of COVID-19.
The Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy kickstarts the domestic season of cricket in India. Bangalore, Kolkata, Vadodara, Indore and Mumbai have been picked as venues for the five Elite groups respectively, while Chennai will host the plate group games, the BCCI has conveyed to its affiliated units on Wednesday (December 16).
