Dinesh Karthik has now issued an unconditional apology to the BCCI which sent him a notice over his appearance in Trinbago Knight Riders” dressing room. He was quick enough to respond on the same when the BCCI gave him a week to reply over this hassle.
According to PTI, Dinesh Karthik wrote: “My coming to Trinidad was at the invitation of head coach of Kolkata Knight Riders, Brendon McCullum, who also happens to be the head coach of TKR. He felt that it”ll be useful for me as a captain of KKR, to come for some discussions with him in regard to KKR. During the 1st TKR game on Sept 4, he had invited me to watch the game from the dressing room, which I did & also wore TKR jersey. I wish to tender my unconditional apology for not seeking permission from BCCI prior to embarking on his visit.”
It is to be noted that Karthik”s participation violates the clauses in the BCCI central contract. However, as he has now issued an unconditional apology, the BCCI will probably be closing the issue.
The new team management for KKR
After the exit of Simon Katich and Jacques Kallis, Brendon McCullum will coach the KKR squad from the upcoming season.
In IPL 2019, the squad literally had a lot of problems within them. Though they were winning the initial phases of the league, dressing room confusions created a lot of issues towards the end.
It will be interesting how McCullum and Karthik will work on team culture and define strategies for their success in the next season.
