The official YouTube channel of Royal Challengers Bangalore shared a new podcast where the fans can see Dinesh Karthik sharing his personal views regarding the final over of the final match played between India and Bangladesh in 2018.
He remarkably acclaims that the 2nd most watched sports video ever is the final over of Nidahas Trophy 2018, as more than 22 crore views have been registered on the video.
Sri Lanka already won 2 matches at the start of the tournament since it was a tri-nation cup. The Sri Lankan side was having a strong advantage to reach the final match by registering 2 consecutive wins.
But the plot twist comes when the Sri Lankan side lost 2 matches consecutively and also lost the decisive match for qualifying to the final against Bangladesh. As Bangladesh cherished their win and booed the Sri Lankan side by doing the ‘Nagin Dance’ on-field.
Dinesh Karthik further shares the backstory of the entire incident
As the Sri Lankan side was supporting India, as they badly wanted to see Bangladesh lose the final match, Bangladesh while batting first put up a decent target of 167 runs at final match pressure for the men in blue.
With the heroic innings of Rohit Sharma giving India a good start, lost major wickets back-to-back at regular intervals. But then comes the major protagonist of the match, Dinesh Karthik, as the Indian side required 34 runs off 2 overs with a required run rate of 17 per over.
Dinesh Karthik on the final over smashed back-to-back boundaries and grabbed the win from Bangladesh’s mouth. He admires the Bangladeshi bowler Rubel Hossain, who was bowling the final over, and admits he was bowling really well, and it was really hard for him to hit his deliveries.
He appreciates the efforts put up by Rubel as he was bowling consecutive yorkers, and it was really an intense situation as he connected the shots in perfect timing and at the right spot.
