Dinesh Kartik has pulled out a magnificent rabbit out of his hat in the Nidahas Trophy final today. India was chasing a target of 166 versus Bangladesh and despite a superb start by Rohit Sharma who got a fifty, found going tough in the middle overs.
It was around the 9th till the 12th over where India lost momentum in the chase, Manish Pandey couldn”t time the ball well and Vijay Shankar batting for the first time for India, just couldn”t get going.
India was in huge strife then, and the likelihood of losing a tournament final to Bangladesh loomed. Just then, Dinesh Kartik arrived with India needing 34 off 12 balls.
Dinesh hit Rubel Hossain in the 19th over for 22 runs. Hitting two huge sixes that boosted the over and a couple of boundaries. It all seemed lost for India and now they needed just 12 off the 6 balls left.
India were now the favorites as Bangladesh”s weak link 5th bowler Soumya Sarkar was bowling the over. But, Sarkar did a fine job till the 5th ball, Vijay Shankar hit a four but the equation went down to 5 needed off 1 ball.
Dinesh Kartik needed to hit it for a six. And he did. Sarkar bowled a full wide ball outside the off stump allowing DK to stretch his arms and him clean hit it through the deep on the squarish long off area. What a superb hit.
Dinesh Kartik singlehandedly won India the game and the Nidahas Trophy final & set the social media on fire.

funny how things turn out sometimes. in india's first ever T20I in 2006, @DineshKarthik was player of the match in a tight run chase. here he is again, almost 12 years on, player of the match in a tight run chase in india's latest T20I #INDvBAN

Dinesh Karthik made his debut before Dhoni. But he is still only 32 and batting better than ever before. Could well be a wonderful second wind for him if he can keep his form from the last 2 years
