The Mumbai Indians have yet again shown why they are considered such a champion side as they beat the Sunrisers Hyderabad by 34 runs at the iconic Sharjah Cricket Stadium. The contribution of 67 by Quinton De Kock early on led the charge for Mumbai Indians as they posed a total of 208 which was just too much for the Sunrisers Hyderabad as they have restricted them to a mere 174 at the end of 20 overs all thanks to Trent Boult who picked up two crucial wickets of Jonny Bairstow and Kane Williamson at important stages of the game.
Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma after winning the toss at Sharjah, decided to bat first in the 40 degrees heat. Not a shocking decision to many as the teams batting first have gone on to win majority games this season.
Mumbai Indians Finishers Finish On High Yet Again
Well, it wasn’t the day for Rohit Sharma as he was dismissed early on in the innings but it was the day for Quinton De Kock as went after the Sunrisers Hyderabad bowlers scoring a quickfire 67 before getting dismissed by Rashid Khan.
Following which Mumbai Indians had valuable micro contributions from Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya and Ishan Kishan as they took the score up to 208 at the end of 20 overs.
In reply, Sunrisers Hyderabad had an explosive start as Bairstow took the charge early on but was soon dismissed in the 4th over of the innings. Then it was Manish Pandey and David Warner who had a 60 partnership between them which had SRH over 90 runs in the 9th over.
Soon Pandey lost his wicket and then subsequently Kane Willaimson ended up giving his wicket to Trent Boult. Then it was the combined failure of Priyam Garg, Abdul Samad and Abhishek Sharma that led to Sunrisers Hyderabad’s downfall in the chase.
I don’t actually get Kane out too much in the nets: Trent Boult
The man of the match of today’s game between Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad is fast bowler Trent Boult for his stellar performance with the ball as he picked up two wickets for 28 runs in his 4 overs which includes the prized wicket of Bairstow and Willamson.
During the post-match presentation, Trent Boult said that, since the bowlers had something to bowl at. He also mentioned how he’s not known for his slower ones which is why he’s trying a bit with his variations this season.
“We had watched a bit of cricket played on this wicket. Small ground too. Good effort by the boys. We had something to bowl to. I am known for swing and not for slower ones with the new ball, but you just use variations and angles. Have a bit of fun.”
Trent Boult further went on to talk about how he doesn’t get Kane Williamson’s wicket in the nets but in the end, he got him which was very important for the side at that point of time. The conditions were extremely hot for Boult since it isn’t soo hot and humid in New Zealand.
“I don’t actually get Kane out too much in the nets. So nice to do so, but more important to get the wicket. Very foreign conditions for me, very hot, but you have to be clear in your head. Execute what you want to do, and not worry about the ball travelling out of the park.”
