England pacer James Anderson will resume his rivalry with Virat Kohli as and when the Test series gets underway in Trent Bridge from August 4. The two have shared a great rivalry over time and dominated each other at different points in their career. Kohli was Anderson’s bunny when he toured England back in 2014 and then the king decided to dominate when India toured back in 2018. Overall Anderson has dismissed Kohli five times in his career.

Meanwhile, talking about getting Virat Kohli’s wicket in the series, James Anderson said that he is not bothered about taking his wicket as long as some England bowler dismisses him.

“I’m definitely excited to play against him again. You always want to challenge yourself against the best in the world and he’s certainly that. We know how big a player he is for them both as a batsman and as captain, he has a huge influence on that team. So we know he’s a big wicket and to be honest I don’t care if I get him out. As long as somebody gets him out that’s the main thing. He’s an important wicket,” said Anderson during a virtual press conference on Tuesday.

James Anderson also kept his opinion on how the Trent Bridge wicket is expected to play. He said how swing has been a consistent factor in the pitch and said that it will play a role in the Test match as well.

“In years gone by, swing has played a big part here. It’s a ground where you look up [at overhead conditions] not down at the pitch. If there’s cloud cover or if it’s humid, it’s generally a good place to bowl. If there’s a bit of grass on the wicket it will carry to the keeper and slips,” he added.

Trent Bridge has been India’s happy hunting ground with the team tasting success in 2007 and 2018.
