Duleep Trophy 2024: Mohammed Siraj, And Umran Malik Ruled Out With Illness, Ravindra Jadeja Withdraws

Ravindra Jadeja, who is an all-rounder in Team India, and Mohammad Siraj and Umran Malik, who are fast bowlers, will miss the 2024 Duleep Trophy. The tournament starts on September 5. As per a media advisory from the Board of Cricket Control for India (BCCI), both the pacers are suffering from some illness.

They would not be able to cure themselves before the starting time of domestic competition. In place of Siraj and Umran in India’s B and C squads, respectively, Navdeep Saini and Gaurav Yadav Pondicherry fast bowler have been named as replacements.

Ravindra Jadeja, who was supposed to play for India B also got released. The 35-year-old along with Team India players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ravichandran Ashwin will be seen playing in the Test series against Bangladesh beginning September 19 at M.A Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Here is what the media advisory told:

“Pacer Navdeep Saini will replace Mohd. Siraj in the Team B squad while Gaurav Yadav will replace Umran Malik in the Team C squad. Both Siraj and Malik are suffering from an illness and are not expected to be fit in time for their Duleep Trophy fixtures. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has also been released from the Team B squad.”

Updated squad for India C: Ruturaj Gaikwad (C), Sai Sudharsan, Gaurav Yadav, Rajat Patidar, Abishek Porel (WK), Suryakumar Yadav, B Indrajith, Hrithik Shokeen, Manav Suthar, Anshul Khamboj, Himanshu Chauhan, Mayank Markande, Vyshak Vijaykumar, Aryan Juyal (WK), Sandeep Warrier.

The 2024 Duleep Trophy will start on September 5

The competition is going to start on September 5, 2024. This game will feature India A facing off against India B at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.

There are a few players from the first teams that are in the four teams before they play team Bangladesh in its Test series. Shubhman Gill who plays as an opener for Team India will be the captain of India A while Abhimanyu Easwaran, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shreyas Iyer will lead India B, C and D all respectively.
