Sri Lanka’s spin sensation Dunith Wellalage updated his Instagram profile picture with a snapshot alongside former India captain Virat Kohli. In the photo, they are seen posing together.
Wellalage achieved a career-best performance with a five-wicket haul against India in the Asia Cup 2023 Super 4 game last week. However, despite his excellent performance, Sri Lanka lost the game to India by 41 runs.
The 20-year-old had referred to Kohli, whom he got out for three runs off 12 balls, as his “ideal wicket.” At that time, he mentioned to the host broadcaster:
“My dream wicket was Kohli’s wicket.”

Wellalage managed to secure 10 wickets in six matches and is now focused on making a significant contribution to Sri Lanka’s performance in the 2023 ODI World Cup in India.
Sri Lanka is scheduled to kick off their World Cup campaign against South Africa at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday, October 7.
