Ollie Robinson ran through the Indian batting order in the second innings as India succumbed to an innings defeat in the third Test at Headingley. He had match figures of 7/81 as he was adjudged the Man of the Match for his brilliant spell of bowling. England from being 0-1 down in the series have bounced back brilliantly to level the series 1-1. Heading into the next Test match, they have all the momentum in the world.

1) Robinson began his career playing for Kent Second XI. After one match of the 2013 season, he left Kent for Leicestershire before playing for Yorkshire Second XI. He finished the 2013 season with 59 wickets and 1,282 runs in Second XI cricket and made his first-team List A debut for Yorkshire in July 2013 against Leicestershire. In October 2013, Robinson signed a professional contract with Yorkshire.

2) He made his Test debut earlier this year against New Zealand in June and picked up seven wickets in the match. It was a memorable debut, however, the moment was shortlived. A few old and controversial tweets from his younger days went viral which got him into trouble.

3) The 27-year-old’s spectacular Test debut against New Zealand in June was mired in controversy after his racist and sexist tweets dating almost a decade back were discovered, earning him an eight-match ban, three of which had already been served.

4) He made an apolofy which was accepted and the Sussex bowler was included in the England Test squad announced for India series.

“Probably the toughest few weeks I’ve had in cricket, to be honest, or in my life actually. It affected not only myself but my family too. I’ve learned a lot now and I’m looking to move forward. He said he’s a “different man” now from the person who wrote those as a “young, naive guy. I have grown as a person a lot in that time. I have learned a lot and tried to develop myself as a person in the last 10 years” admitted Robinson.

5) He made a terrific comeback into Test cricket picking two five-wicket hauls in the same series against India. His first fifer was in the first Test at Trent Bridge. His second fifer at Headingley earned his team a series-levelling win. He was also adjudged as the Man of the Match.
