ENG vs IND 2021: BCCI President Sourav Ganguly To Leave For England On September 22 To Discuss Future Of Manchester Test

BCCI President Sourav will leave for UK on September 22 to discuss about the future of the fifth test with ECB. The fifth Test in Manchester was cancelled afterCOVID scare in the Indian camp. The series stands at 2-1 with India not forfeiting the Test match as well. Ganguly will discuss a possible rescheduling of the Manchester Tets with ECB officials.

Ganguly will meet with England cricket’s top brass to try and resolve the situation as both cricketing bodies are set to lose massive sums of money on the back of an all-important series decider final Test match that stands cancelled.

 

A few hours ahead of the start of the fifth day, ECB sent out an official statement of the Test match being cancelled. The BCCI in response said that they have offered ECB a rescheduling of the Test match.

“In lieu of the strong relationship between BCCI and ECB, the BCCI has offered to ECB a rescheduling of the cancelled Test match. Both the Boards will work towards finding a window to reschedule this Test match,” the BCCI said.

Rescheduling Of Manchester Test On The Cards

On Thursday, Team India physio tested COVID positive which sent a warning around the Indian camp. Ahead of the fourth Test match, Indian head coach Ravi Shastri, fielding coach R Sridhar and bowling coach Bharat Arun were isolated from the Indian squad.

Meanwhile, with the fifth Test cancelled, the focus is on the second half of the IPL starting in the UAE from September 19. CSK and Mumbai Indians kick off the second half with KKR and RCB playing the second game.

The various franchises are making arrangements to fly their players directly from Manchester to Dubai.
