England fast bowler Ollie Robinson was a trending topic in the news for a healthy period. However, he was in the news for all negative reasons. Meanwhile this time he is trending once again but for all good reasons. As he delivered an amazing performance in the England vs India first Test match at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. Notably, Ollie Robinson was making a comeback in the side after getting suspended by ECB for his old tweets.
The 27-year-old had an amazing debut in international cricket against New Zealand as he bagged 7 wickets in the match. Also during that time, his old tweets were resurfaced on social media for which he received a lot of backlash from fans. Eventually, he was handed over the suspension by ECB after his tweets went viral.
After the end of the play on Day 3, Ollie Robinson recalled the incident and said he has grown up a lot as a person. The 27-year-old stated:
“I was young 18-19 years old. I made a lot of mistakes, not just those tweets. I’ve grown as a person a lot in that time. Obviously, I’ve learned a lot try to develop as a person in the last 10 years. I try to make myself the best person I can be. It was the toughest period in my life. It affected myself and my family but, I’ve learned a lot since then.”
“I definitely had doubts over my career”: Ollie Robinson
The right-arm pacer thought that his career might be over after he was suspended by ECB for his old racist tweets. Ollie Robinson asserted:
“I definitely had doubts over my career. “There was a time when I was speaking with my lawyers and, we were looking at the fact I could be banned for a couple of years and never play for England again. In a couple of years, I’d have turned 30 and, someone else might have come in and taken my spot. So yes, I had doubts over my career. I thought I might never play for England again.”
Meanwhile, Robinson picked up a five-wicket haul against India in the first Test at Nottingham. He bagged wickets of Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, and Jasprit Bumrah.
