England’s pacer Mark Wood has made early inroads in the Indian batting line-up. He dismissed the first-innings centurion KL Rahul for 5 runs and then got the other opener, Rohit Sharma out.

Rohit Sharma once again fell playing his favourite hook shot. On the third delivery of the eleventh over, Rohit successfully hit a six off a bouncer into the stands, behind the square leg fielder. But erred, while repeating the same shot a ball later. Mark Wood bowled short pitch delivery to Rohit, who tried to hook the ball but wasn’t in control. He was caught in the deep by Moeen Ali.

This isn’t the first instance of Rohit getting out to a bouncer in this series. In the first innings of the first test match, Rohit was dismissed in a similar fashion off Ollie Robinson’s bowling for 36 runs.

After the fall of Rohit Sharma’s wicket at Lord’s, Indian skipper Virat Kohli joined Cheteshwar Pujara at the crease with Ajinkya Rahane and Rishabh Pant to follow. Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar will be under serious pressure to get some runs under their belt in this innings. The duo has faced severe criticism for its inconsistent performance over the last few years.

The Indian team has wiped out the first-innings deficit and is 43 for two down, leading by 17 runs.
