Rahul got 46 runs before being dismissed, whereas Jaiswal kept batting well.
Jaiswal, with Rahul, led the good opening of India. The two batsmen also displayed immense technique and temperament as they faced the English bowlers. Jaiswal in particular, was in very good shape and was running freely and with confidence.
Yashasvi Jaiswal’s Record-Breaking Feat
Yashasvi Jaiswal is the first Indian opener to score a fifty at Old Trafford in Manchester in the last 51 years. Nari Contractor in 1959 was the last one. The success of Jaiswal is a product of his talent and efforts. He also scored 1000 runs against England, making him the 20th Indian cricketer and the fourth opener to score this number. The time spent by Jaiswal on the crease ended when Liam Dawson overpowered him.
The opener tried to defend but the ball moved slightly and an outside edge got him out. It was a catch by Harry Brook who sent Jaiswal back to the crease. He was dismissed when he had hit 58 runs.
Pant and Sai Sudharsan have put India in a commanding position, three down in the ongoing fourth Test at Old Trafford, Manchester. Yashasvi Jaiswal fell for 58, and KL Rahul faced the sack with 46. These two put India in a strong position with 94 runs for the first wicket. Shubman Gill then departed cheaply for 12. Earlier, the toss was won by England captain Ben Stokes, who put the opposition into bat first.
