Jacques Kallis Joins England Cricket Team In A New Role

Just weeks before England tour Sri Lanka for a two-match test series, they have announced South Africa’s legendary all-rounder Jacques Kallis as their batting consultant. This won’t be the first time Kallis will be taking up such a role as prior to this he had taken up a similar role with the Proteas side in 2019-20.

In addition to Kallis, England have New Zealand’s Jeetan Patel as their spin bowling consultant whereas former Essex County skipper James Foster has been named in the capacity of a wicket-keeping consultant.

The inclusion of Jacques Kallis to the England cricket team’s setup is hugely going to benefit the English side as Kallis’ expertise will have an experience of playing in over 166 tests which includes 13,289 runs and 292 wickets under his name. Kallis’ last appearance for the Proteas came way back in 2014 after which he took up coaching roles with T20 franchises all around the globe.

Jeetan Patel and James Foster Other England Appointments In Addition to Jacques Kallis

Jacques Kallis wasn’t the only appointment in the English setup as they announced Jeetan Patel and James Foster in the capacity of spin bowling and wicket keeping consultant respectively. The Newly named trio will now join head coach Chris Silverwood and assistant coach Paul Collingwood in the coaching setup.

On the other hand, Carl Hopkinson and Jon Lewis will continue in their roles of fielding and bowling coach respectively. Newly appointed Jeetan Patel will now be seen working with the likes of Dom Bess, Moeen Ali and Jack Leach during the tour of the island nation where the pitches are mainly spin conducive.

England will fly to Sri Lanka on January 2 after which they’ll complete the mandatory 14 days quarantine in between which they’ll be allowed to train for five days before the first test kicks off on January 14.
