England Star Ben Stokes Confirms His Participation In IPL 2020

The cricketing stars are currently living in dilemma with the outbreak of the pandemic coronavirus which has brought the entire world into a standstill. Many parts of the world have gone down in lockdown to curb the spread of the deadly virus. Thus, all the cricketing actions have been suspended until further notice.

The future of the forthcoming edition of the Indian Premier League also hangs by the wire. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has already postponed the league until April 15, which was slated to commence from March 29. Recently, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly in an interview failed to give a clear answer when asked about the future of the cash-rich league.

Amid all the dark clouds, England superstar Ben Stokes has confirmed his availability for IPL 2020. The all-rounder has said that the T20 league is going to be next competitive cricket that he will play. The update comes as a big relief for Rajasthan Royals, who had bought Stokes for a huge amount of Rs 12.5 Crore in 2018.

“At the moment my next competitive cricket is going to be in the IPL. I have to get my head round that I am playing even though in the back of my mind I know I am probably not. I have to build up and get myself physically in a position that if it does happen I am good to go,” Stokes told BBC Radio 5 Live.

Ben Stokes becomes the fourth overseas cricketer after David Warner, Mitchell McClenaghan, and Tom Banton to confirm his availability. Sam Curran, Tom Curran, Chris Jordan, Eoin Morgan, Jason Roy, Harry Gurney, Jos Buttler, Moeen Ali and Jonny Bairstow are other English players who have IPL contracts. However, they are yet to have a word on this.
