England Star Slapped With Fine, Issued Final Warning Pre-Ashes

Harry Brook

Harry Brook withdraws from Test series against India

England’s white-ball captain Harry Brook has been fined and issued a warning for breaching conduct rules following a late-night confrontation with a bouncer outside a nightclub during the limited-overs tour of New Zealand. The incident reportedly took place on the eve of the third ODI, with reports stating that the 26-year-old informed team management about the matter and was fined £30,000.

As per The Telegraph, the episode occurred in Wellington on October 31, ahead of the third ODI against New Zealand. Harry Brook was allegedly denied entry to the nightclub after security suspected he was intoxicated, which led to a reported altercation with a bouncer. No injuries were sustained during the incident.

The report added that Brook acknowledged the incident to team management, a move that reportedly helped him avoid being stripped of the captaincy, as the episode took place on the eve of the match. A statement from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), quoted by The Telegraph, said:

“We are aware of this incident and it has been dealt with through a formal and confidential ECB disciplinary process. The player involved has apologised and acknowledged their conduct fell below expectations on this occasion.”

Harry Brook Calls Representing England The Greatest Honour Of All

In a statement obtained by The Telegraph, the Yorkshire batter expressed regret to his teammates, coaches, and fans for disappointing them with his behaviour during the incident. He also promised that such actions would not be repeated in the future, saying:

“I want to apologise for my actions. I fully accept that my behaviour was wrong and brought embarrassment to both myself and the England team. Representing England is the greatest honour of all, which I take seriously and I am deeply sorry for letting down my team-mates, coaches and supporters.”

“I have reflected on the lessons it has taught me about responsibility, professionalism and the standards expected of those representing your country. And I am determined to learn from this mistake and to rebuild trust through my future actions, both on and off the field. I apologise unreservedly and will work hard to ensure this does not happen again.”
