The chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Ehsan Mani has confirmed that the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) will be sending a second-string T20 squad to Pakistan for a three-match T20 series in early 2021. The tour was proposed by the Pakistan Cricket Board to the ECB as they attempt to bring full-fledged international cricket back to the country.

As we all are aware cricket in Pakistan had come to a standstill after the terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan players in 2009. But off-late they have been attempting to bring international cricket back to the country as we witnessed teams like West Indies, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe tour them very recently.

As decided the main team will be touring Sri Lanka in January 2021 which is why at the same time a second-string team will be travelling to Pakistan for the three-match T20 series.

ECB To Send Second String Squad to Pakistan: Ehsan Mani

Ehsan Mani hopes that with the English team visiting the country for a T20 series it would indeed send a strong message to all other nations that Pakistan is finally safe for international cricket. Mani was further quoted saying that officials from the ECB will also be touring the country along with the second-string squad.

“Main team of England will be in Sri Lanka but they’ll be touring Pakistan for T20Is at the same time to send worldwide message that Pakistan is safe country to play cricket. Top officials of England will be coming to Pakistan during tour,” Ehsan Mani was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

Its been over 15 years since the England Cricket Team last toured Pakistan as the last time they toured the country was way back in 2005 after which sadly international cricket in Pakistan was brought to a standstill. But with the recent efforts taken by the PCB to bring back international cricket to Pakistan with the security measures into play, it does look like Pakistan will soon witness international cricket back in full swing.
