ENGvIND: Hardik Pandya”s dream spell gives India advantage on day 2

The Indian bowlers produced an excellent bowling display to bowl out England for just 161 runs after being bundled out for 329 on the 2nd day of 3rd test match played at Trent Bridge, Nottingham just finished a few moments ago. With a lead of 292 runs in the 2nd innings, India are in a commanding position to win the match.

Starting the 2nd day on 307 for 6, the Indian team added 22 runs for the loss of 4 wickets. Stuart Broad dismissed Pant, Ashwin. James Anderson dismissed Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah in quick succession to bowl out India for 329. In reply, England openers Jennings and Cook made a steady start. The Indian new bowlers did not bowl well. At lunch, both openers scored 46 runs.

After the lunch break, Ishant Sharma got the big wicket of Cook for 29. Both Cook and Jennings added 54 runs for opening wicket. Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Jennings in the next over. Ishant Sharma then dismissed Pope to leave England at 75 for 3.

Hardik Pandya bowled a dream spell dismissing Joe Root, Bairstow, Chris Woakes, Adil Rashid, Stuart Broad to pick his first 5 wicket haul in test matches. Jos Buttler played with positive intent with number 11 batsman James Anderson at the crease. Buttler scored a quick fire 39 off 32 balls. India bowled out England for a paltry 161. Hardik Pandya was the pick of bowlers with 5 wickets, Ishant Sharma and Bumrah taking 2 wickets each while Mohammed Shami picking 1 wicket.

In the third session of play, Indian openers Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul played with positive intent against England new ball bowlers. Both of them added 60 runs for the 1st wicket before Ben Stokes dismissed KL Rahul for quick fire 36 off 33 balls. Cheteshwar Pujara came to the crease and played with positive intent. Both Pujara and Dhawan added 51 runs for a 2nd wicket. Dhawan was dismissed for 44 off Adil Rashid bowling.

Pujara and Indian captain Kohli made sure that the visitors ended the 2nd day on 124 for 2 with a lead of 292 runs.
