Cheteshwar Pujara one of the solid batsmen in the current Indian test team will be confident to perform in English conditions.  Playing county cricket would help him to contribute valuable runs while coming at number 3.

He has played a total of 58 test matches and scored 4531 runs with an average of 50.34. Pujara has performed exceptionally well in Indian conditions. His performance in test series against England during 2014 test series was not great. He scored 222 runs from 5 matches with the best score of 55.

During the 3 match test series against South Africa this year, Pujara got starts but was not able to convert it into big scores.

If Pujara plays in the playing XI, then the right-handed batsman must contribute against top quality bowlers like James Anderson and Stuart Broad to help team India post a big total.

Ajinkya Rahane is one of the proven middle order batsmen for India in overseas conditions. During the 2014 test tour of England, Rahane scored a brilliant century on a green pitch at Lords and helped team India to post a decent total. The Indian cricket team won that match.

Ishant Sharma has played a total of 82 test matches and taken 238 wickets so far. He would play a critical role in helping team India picking early wickets, also troubling the England batsmen with his speed and accuracy. He bowled well in one-off Afghanistan test match and needs to continue brilliant form for team India if they are to win the series.

With the bat, he has scored 2163 runs with the best score of 124.

Before coming to England, he gained confidence by picking wickets against Afghanistan. Apart from being a good bowler, R Ashwin is a decent lower order batsman who can provide vital runs. If the pitch helps the spinners, then he would be a handful and create havoc among England team.
