Eoin Morgan Back As England Captain For The Vitality IT20 Series Against Pakistan

Eoin Morgan has returned as captain of the England cricket team for the Vitality IT20 series against Pakistan. On Wednesday, the England and Wales Cricket Board announced a 16-member squad for the series.

Saqib Mahmood and Lewis Gregory have been recalled to the T20 squad after their brilliant performances in the ODI series. Saqib was the highest wicket-taker in the series with nine wickets in three matches. He was also the Player of The Series. Lewis scored 117 runs in three matches at an average of 58.50.

England’s vice-captain Jos Butler, Jonny Bairstow, Jason Roy, Adil Rashid, and Moeen Ali also return to the squad after missing the three-match ODI series due to the COVID outbreak in the squad. Ben Stokes, who stood in for Morgan as the captain has been rested. The other notable absentees are Sam Curran, Chris Woakes, and Sam Billings. Paul Collingwood will return as the interim head coach of England. Chris Silverwood who was filling in for Collingwood in the ODI series is set to go back on leave.

A statement released by the ECB confirms that all the selected players have tested negative for the Covid-19 virus.

The three-match T20I is set to begin from July 16 at Nottingham.
