The Pakistani squad, captained by Babar Azam, has been the target of harsh criticism from both experts and fans due to their dismal performance in the current T20 World Cup 2024. In an attempt to find a reason for the team’s failure, the former Pakistani players have taken a hard line against Babar for both his leadership and the PCB.
Joining the chorus of critics, Ahmed Shehzad accused Babar of inciting bias among the team and fielding a roster full of his pals. He also criticized Babar for misleading the public.
Under Babar’s captaincy, Shehzad took a hard stance against the Pakistani squad for their defeats against associate nations and teams such as the USA. There had been negative fallout from Pakistan’s poor performance, with Babar being held accountable for his style of captaincy and bat leadership.
“Jab se Babar Azam captain hain, hum boht mediocre, sorry for using this word, teams se haar rahe hain (ever since Babar became captain, we have been losing to mediocre teams),” Shehzad said on a TV show, a video clip of which has gone viral on social media.
“Babar Azam has the third-highest runs in losing cause”-
Ahmed Shehzad, a former batter for Pakistan, too aimed his weaponry at Babar Azam, practically calling the captain of Pakistan a “king” while displaying a piece of paper with Babar’s performance records in major competitions.
“Your (Babar) scores in big competitions…your average is 27 and your strike rate is 112. And 1400 of your runs have come in a losing cause, which is at No. 3 in the world in that list. So these stats are of which king, tell me that? What should I do with this king who can’t win us the match?” Shehzad said.
