Fan Who Paid Indian Cricketers Food Bill Denies Hugging Rishabh Pant

Cricket Australia and BCCI are currently investigating a potential bio bubble breach by Rohit Sharma, Navdeep Saini, Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill and Prithvi Shaw. It all started when a fan tweeted about him paying the food bill of the Indian cricketers after he spotted them dining at the same restaurant as he was.

The fan, by the name of Navaldeep Singh, paid their $118 bill at Secret Kitchen Chinese restaurant at Chadstone Shopping Centre which he was seen flaunting on Twitter. He even claimed that he interacted with Rishabh Pant and even hugged him which is why CA and BCCI are examining the matter.

After the topic got heated up the fan later clarified that he never hugged Rishabh Pant and all that was said in excitement. Both the BCCI and Cricket Australia are currently investigating the matter and could possibly have repercussions for the 3rd test to be played at the Sydney Cricket ground.

What does this mean to the Indian team and the upcoming test at the SCG starting on 7th January? The scale of events could force India to drop the mentioned players from the next test or quit possibly the entire series. Three of the five players ( Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill) who are under investigation were confirmed going to be a part of the playing XI for the 3rd Test.

Just a few hours after Rohit Sharma joined the squad in Melbourne, the BCCI announced Rohit as India’s vice-captain to Ajinkya Rahane for the remaining two Tests of the series. While on the other hand, Shardul Thakur and T Natarajan were officially added to the Test squad as a replacement for Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav.
