Royal Challengers Bengaluru scripted another memorable chapter in Women’s Premier League history by clinching the WPL 2026 title with a thrilling win over Delhi Capitals in the final. Playing in a packed stadium and under intense pressure, Delhi Capitals posted a competitive total of 203 for four after being put in to bat.
The innings was built around a fluent knock from Jemimah Rodrigues, who anchored the middle order with confidence and ensured Delhi had enough runs on the board to challenge a strong RCB batting unit. Despite a few tight overs in the middle phase, Delhi’s total reflected their intent to dominate the final and finally convert one of their multiple final appearances into a title.
RCB, however, approached the chase with calm and clarity. From the very start, the Bengaluru side showed they were ready for the big occasion, pacing their innings smartly and refusing to panic even when early wickets fell. The required run rate remained high, but the batters trusted their plans and focused on rotating strike while punishing loose deliveries.
Mandhana And Voll Define The Chase
The chase was defined by a captain’s innings from Smriti Mandhana, who once again proved why she is regarded as one of the finest batters in the women’s game. Her aggressive yet controlled knock kept RCB firmly in the contest and shifted momentum decisively in their favour.
Mandhana found an able partner in Georgia Voll, whose composed approach balanced the innings perfectly. While Mandhana attacked the bowlers, Voll ensured stability, picking gaps and running hard between the wickets.
Together, they stitched a partnership that drained confidence from the Delhi bowlers and brought the target within reach. Even when Delhi attempted to slow things down with timely bowling changes, RCB’s depth and clarity helped them stay ahead. The winning runs came with just a few balls to spare, sealing RCB’s second WPL title and confirming their status as one of the league’s most consistent teams.
Fans Celebrate As Twitter Erupts After The Win
As soon as the final ball was bowled, social media platforms, especially Twitter, were flooded with celebrations from RCB fans. Supporters hailed the team’s fearless approach and praised the leadership shown throughout the tournament.
Smriti Mandhana’s innings was widely described as a final-worthy performance, with fans calling it a knock to remember in WPL history. Many also applauded Georgia Voll for holding her nerve in a pressure-filled chase.
RCB supporters shared emotional posts celebrating the title, while neutral fans appreciated the quality of cricket on display in the final. Even Delhi Capitals received respect online for reaching yet another final and maintaining their consistency across seasons. The overwhelming reaction reflected how the WPL continues to grow in popularity, with RCB’s 2026 triumph becoming a moment fans will talk about for years to come.
