Team India’s star batter Virat Kohli endured a second consecutive duck in the second ODI against Australia at the Adelaide Oval on Thursday, October 23. The right-hander was dismissed LBW by pacer Xavier Bartlett in the seventh over after India were asked to bat first.

Kohli arrived at the crease following Shubman Gill’s dismissal in the same over. He initially negotiated Bartlett’s early deliveries with caution, leaving most balls outside the off-stump. However, he was trapped by a sharp inswinger on the final ball of the over. The on-field umpire wasted no time in raising his finger.

Although Kohli briefly discussed a review with captain Rohit Sharma, he decided against it as the timer expired. As he walked back, the Adelaide crowd offered a warm applause, which Kohli acknowledged with a gentle raise of his gloves. This was the first time in Kohli’s illustrious ODI career that he has been dismissed for ducks in consecutive innings.

Fans were left disappointed after another poor outing from Virat Kohli, raising doubts about his international future. Here’s how social media reacted:

Team India In Deep Trouble Again After Virat Kohli’s Dismissal In AUS Vs IND 2025 2nd ODI

The Indian batting lineup once again found it difficult to handle the Australian pace attack following their recent struggles in Perth. Skipper Rohit Sharma appeared out of rhythm, taking 33 balls just to get into double digits. Both Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli fell in the same over, leaving India reeling at 17/2 after seven overs.

At the time of writing, the score stands at 34/2 in the 12th over, with Shreyas Iyer partnering Rohit Sharma in the middle. For the first time in his remarkable career, Virat Kohli was dismissed for a duck in back-to-back innings.
