Team India’s second ODI against New Zealand saw no result, as the rain played a spoilsport and the hosts lead the series 1-0. Meanwhile, Indian batter Sanju Samson made headlines off the field as fans of him made a brilliant gesture in the biggest sporting event which is going on right now – the FIFA World Cup 2022

During one of the matches of the global event held in Qatar, Indian fans as expected showed their banners in support of team India batter, Sanju Samson. This came soon after the right-hander was dropped from the second ODI match after an appearance in the first ODI and it has left fans angry as well.

“Lots of Love from Qatar” – Fans made banner for Sanju Samson

“Lots of Love from Qatar,” read one of the banners held by the fans. “Regardless of the match, the team, or the player, we are with you, Sanju Samson,” read another banner.

However, Samson played the first ODI match against New Zealand where he scored 36 runs from 38 balls and looked not much comfortable with the bat. However, it was natural as it was the first game of the series he was playing.

Notably, Sanju Samson was also included in the recently concluded T20I series team against New Zealand, however, could not make it to the final playing XI under the leadership of Hardik Pandya as well.

“If they are sitting out, Sanju Samson, for example: we wanted to play him, but for whatever reason, we could not. But I can get into their shoes and understand how they are feeling. As a cricketer, it is difficult, whatever one might say,” Pandya had stated.

Meanwhile, India’s ODI captain for the series, Shikhar Dhawan did not reveal the reason, he explained why Samson had to be dropped.

“We wanted the sixth bowler to come in, so Sanju Samson missed out and Hooda came in. And Chahar was picked because he can swing the ball really well. A few of our guys are resting but this side is still strong, shows the depth of our squad,” he explained.
