Known for his strong mentality and unwavering spirit, Gambhir delivered numerous match-winning performances for the Men in Blue throughout his long career. Gautam Gambhir has amassed 4,154 runs in Tests for India, boasting an impressive average of 46.

Gautam Gambhir’s path as a coach and mentor

Before IPL 2022, Gautam Gambhir was named the mentor of the newly formed franchise, Lucknow Super Giants. During his tenure, the team reached the playoffs each season until he returned to his former franchise, Kolkata Knight Riders, as team mentor in 2024.

His presence had a significant impact on the Kolkata-based team, propelling them toward their third title with impressive dominance. The final was largely one-sided, with KKR defeating a Pat Cummins-led Sunrisers Hyderabad by eight wickets.

After a successful IPL season, there was considerable excitement about Gautam Gambhir taking over from Rahul Dravid as the head coach of India’s senior team.

In July, the BCCI announced Gambhir’s appointment as head coach of Team India. With the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, ICC Champions Trophy, and a possible World Test Championship final scheduled for 2025, it will be interesting to see how many achievements India will secure under Gambhir’s leadership.
