Bangladesh women’s cricketer Fariha Trisna made history by securing her second T20I hat trick against Australia on Tuesday. Trisna joined an elite group as only the third player in Women’s T20I cricket to achieve this milestone.
She claimed the wickets of Ellyse Perry, Sophie Molineux, and Beth Mooney to complete her hat trick. In the second T20I of the three-match series held in Mirpur, Australia won the toss and chose to bat.
Following the early dismissal of Phoebe Litchfield, Grace Harris and Georgia Wareham forged a partnership of 91 runs, laying the foundation for a substantial total.
Ellyse Perry managed to strike a boundary off Fariha Trisna’s bowling in the last over. However, Trisna showcased remarkable resilience by claiming three consecutive wickets to conclude the over.
Her feat marked the fifth hat-trick in women’s cricket this year, as she dismissed Perry, Sophie Molineux, and Beth Mooney off the final three deliveries of the innings.

Fariha finished her four overs with impressive figures of 4 runs conceded and took a wicket without giving away any runs in one over. This helped limit Australia to 161/8 in 20 overs. Bangladesh, currently trailing 0-1 in the series, must win the second T20I to keep their hopes alive.
Australia and Bangladesh competed in a series of three ODIs, which the visitors convincingly won 3-0, preventing the home team from reaching 100 runs in any of the matches. Bangladesh’s aim now is to secure at least one victory in the T20Is.
Currently, Trisna is likely celebrated nationwide for her outstanding performance with the ball. For those unfamiliar, she also achieved a hat-trick in her debut match back in 2022.
